I went to one of my favorite childhood parks today! It’s called Chantilly Park! I used to go there all the time when I lived in Chantilly Charlotte with my mom and sister when I was in middle school. One of my most favorite memories of being in middle school was finding out about the computer lab and getting introduced to the idea of the Internet for the first time in the early 2010’s. Probably around 2013 or 2014 if I were to guess. I was absolutely fascinated at the idea that I could get on this machine with the screen and look up information and websites about practically anything. I remember all of these different websites like CoolMathGames.com, which had a bunch of cool, Flash based puzzle and physics games there was also a website that I remember one of our teachers telling us about where you could play around with a bunch of sand physics as well as finding a bunch of different cool screensavers on other people‘s computers. Like a bowl of light that would change colors and leave little colorful trails behind it with a black background. If you know you know! Also, if anyone knows the name of it, please let me know. I’ve been dying to remember the name of that screensaver because it just looks so cool.Thankfully, because it was the school computer lab we were safe from anything adult. Not to mention, we also had a bunch of websites that were made with kids in mind which is sadly more than I could say for the kind of social media younger kids have today. Anyway. One of my favorite things to do on the weekends was to go to that park!
I used to play on the playgrounds there all the time, and I remember thinking that the tan, rocks dirt paths were super cool!
here are some photos.
I took all of these photos after passing the area with the playgrounds and yes, there are two of them that are still around over 10 years later. When I was young there used to be two tiny wooden bridges that would lead to each playground from the dirt trail. They were only about a yard and a half long as far as American measurements go. lol. I also remember them getting replaced for stone ones that were still there when I went with my nanny, turned friend Ildi. Considering what you’ve just read yes we have been friends for almost 10 years at this point and I remember that we first met when my mom and some of the other moms of my friends started up a temporary high school back in 2017 but that’s a story for another time. Ever since then we’ve really gotten to know each other and we consider each and her new boyfriend I met last year, like a second family. That tiny white dog in the second photo is Soul. He was named by my sister who is two years younger than me, as well as the rest of us, after the place he was born. Soul Korea. He was the Runt of the litter of a dog breed. My sister was very interested in and so we picked him up and had him sent to us. He’s a really cute boy, even if he is a bit of a scamp sometimes.
One crazy time I remember from when I was young going to this park was when we took that long path you see in the photos and somehow my sister and I stumbled across a digging site that was on one of the four of Park trails. The site had a digger that was on demand and it looked like it had been there for months, as well as a bunch of quartz crystals sticking out of the ground that were about the size of a football. I set up in the digger and I think either my sister or my mom took a photo. I don’t remember who. I do remember that my sister and I pulled up one or two crystals out of the ground and carried them with us to our car so my mom could drive us with our treasures back to the house. I’m not sure how much those crystals would have been worth but sadly they’re long gone at this point. That was one of the craziest things that’s ever happened to me as a kid apart from all of the times I’ve almost died. lol. Again, other stories for other times. I mean that discovering the crystals and the abandoned digging site was probably one of the craziest positive things that’s ever happened to me apart from again, first discovering the Internet, and then finding out about Friday Night Funkin and NewGrounds back in 2021 when that game really hit it big with the Week 7 update that year! It started me down an incredible rediscovery of my passion for art, as well as my art journey on this site! Anyway, I really hope you guys enjoyed reading about all of my fond memories throughout the years, and of stories that I have yet to tell. I wish all of you reading this the best with whatever your life’s goals are.
Goodby for now! =D
